Often Asked By Builders
Do I need welding experience?
Basic welding skills are needed. If you've welded before, you'll be fine. If not, this is the perfect first real project — our guide walks you through every step.
Where do I get the oil drum?
Scrapyards, local industrial suppliers or online marketplaces. A standard 200L oil drum is all you need — we'll show you exactly what to look for in the guide.
How long does it take to build?
Plan for a weekend. The build itself takes around 8–12 hours, but painting adds time — primer, paint and lacquer each need to dry overnight for the best finish. Start Friday evening or Saturday morning and you'll have a finished chair by Sunday.
How difficult is this project?
Beginner friendly. The skills you need are angle grinding, basic welding and painting — all simple and repetitive in this build. The guide walks you through every step. If you can handle a grinder and a spray can, you can build this chair.
Like LEGO. But real.

Source a barrel
Find an oil barrel locally. Scrapyards, workshops, online marketplaces. They're everywhere — usually under 10 euros.
Build it
Follow the guide. Use basic tools. One weekend is all it takes. When you're done — you sit in what you built.
Both chairs fit inside
