About the Project
About the Project
The Infinity Table is a simple build with a payoff that looks far more complicated than it is. The illusion comes from one mirror at the bottom, a piece of mirror film on the glass top, and an LED strip running between them. Light bounces back and forth, and your eye gives up trying to count the layers.
Difficulty: Easy — a weekend project.
Budget estimate: Around €200 total
Time: Around 6–10 hours total. Most builders finish it in a single weekend.
Tools needed: Angle grinder, sealant gun, paint gear (brush, roller, or spray can), a spatula for the mirror film, heat gun.
Skills used: Cutting metal with an angle grinder, painting, applying adhesive film.
Build phases:
1. Cut the oil drum in half and deburr the edges
2. Clean, prep, and paint the drum exterior
3. Apply the brick wallpaper, stairs and rope details inside
4. Mount the bottom mirror
5. Install the LED strip and battery housing
6. Apply the infinity mirror film to the glass top
Place the glass top and switch it on
